Wowbeen is a social platform where people share real experiences about hotels, restaurants, and destinations with video proof and star ratings. Instead of text-only reviews that hide what a place truly looks like, Wowbeen helps travelers and diners preview venues through authentic clips before they book or visit. Creators upload from a dedicated dashboard and can promote posts through paid boosts.
The Product Challenge
Parallel Loop partnered with Wowbeen to build a mobile-first discovery product where video performance and trust are the core value proposition. Consumer social feeds fail when clips buffer on cellular networks or when recommendations feel generic. Wowbeen needed a responsive web platform that behaves like a native app, a proprietary streaming layer tuned for short-form review footage, AI-generated personalized watch lists based on taste signals, and monetization through Stripe-backed content boosts. Phase 1: Mobile-First Platform & Custom Video Streaming
We developed a complete mobile-first responsive web platform optimized for thumb-driven discovery. Feed layouts, place detail pages, and rating interactions prioritize small screens without shipping separate native apps. Our team built a custom video streaming engine with adaptive segment delivery, poster frames, and prefetch rules so review clips start quickly and stay smooth while users swipe between hotels, restaurants, and landmarks.
Our full-stack custom software engineering implementation stores engagement telemetry in MongoDB, relational place and user graphs in PostgreSQL, and processes uploads through Agenda Jobs for transcoding, moderation queues, and thumbnail generation on AWS EC2.

We integrated OpenAI models to build personalized watch lists that curate content for each user's taste. Viewing history, saved places, star rating patterns, and creator follows inform recommendation embeddings so feeds surface relevant hotels, cuisines, and travel styles instead of a one-size-fits-all timeline. Our AI and machine learning engineering pod tuned prompts and ranking layers to keep suggestions fresh as new video reviews publish.
We created a user dashboard where creators upload video reviews and boost visibility through paid promotion. Stripe API handles boost purchases, billing webhooks, and entitlement windows that elevate posts in discovery feeds. Admins can audit boosted content alongside organic rankings to maintain feed quality and compliance with promotion policies.
